Lahore: Man accused of raping 7-year-old girl charged
LAHORE: Additional District and Sessions Judge Qamar Ijaz has framed charges against Zubair, the man charged with raping seven-year-old Tayyaba. The judge observed in his written orders that as there was sufficient grounds to proceed against the accused, let formal charges be framed against him.
The judge informed the accused “You on March 11 committed Zinal bil Jabar (rape) with Tayyaba, the daughter of the complainant. Thus you have committed an offence punishable under Section 376 of the Pakistan Penal Court, which is within the cognisance of this court.”
The accused denied the charge and demanded a trial. The judge summoned the prosecution evidence for May 17. Tayyaba’s statement will be recorded the next day of the hearing.
The accused’ bail application is also pending wherein he had claimed that he was innocent. Tayyaba’s counsels, who are representing her voluntarily, said that the medical and chemical reports had proved rape and that the police in their investigation had declared accused as involved. The judge said that arguments on the bail application would be on the next date of hearing.
