Stray bullet injures professor in Karachi
KARACHI: A professor was shot at by unknown persons in his house on Friday morning. The incident occurred at the Jamia Millia campus in the limits of Al Falah police station. A duty officer of the police station said that ‘15’ received the information about the incident at 7.10am. The victim, Prof Munir Arain, was taken to the Jinnah Hospital where he was operated upon. Police ruled out that the incident was an act of robbery saying that no valuables had been taken away from the house.
The duty officer said that the family members of the injured professor had not yet revealed full details of the incident. Meanwhile, condemning the attack on Prof Arain the Sindh Professors and Lecturers’ Association has urged the government to immediately arrest the culprits. Expressing its concern over the deteriorating law and order, an emergent meeting of the SPLA was held with Prof Riaz Ahsan in the chair. The meeting deplored that despite being a grade 19 teacher, Associate Professor Muneer Arian had been admitted to a general ward of the JPMC.
