Lahore: IG suspends police officer for not registering robbery case
LAHORE: Inspector General of Police (IG) Shaukat Javed has directed the Okara district police officer (DPO) to suspend a police officer who did not register a robbery case, according to a handout issued on Tuesday.
IG Shaukat Javed gave instructions to the police to register a case of robbery against the accused. He was hearing a complaint of a resident of Okara, Khalid Hussain, in an open court. Hussain alleged that two men with weapons had snatched his motorcycle but the local police were not registering the case. About eighty-two people from across the province submitted their applications in the court on which IG Javed issued necessary orders to the concerned police officers for their quick redressal. Most of the complaints were related to the illegal occupation of land, arresting the accused and poor investigation.
A resident of Vehari Atta Muhammad presented an application that a false case had been registered against him in Mailsi police station due to which he was sent to jail, and later released. Javed ordered the Vehari DPO to submit a report within four days so that legal action could be taken against those who had registered a false case against the applicant.
Sakina of Sheikhupura filed a complaint that a sub-inspector had registered a false case against her husband in Yakki Gate police station and had also taken Rs 20,000 from her. Javed directed the Lahore capital city police officer (CCPO) to enquire through senior superintendent of police (Discipline) and take action against the culprits.
A resident of Lahore, Hanifan submitted an application that her husband had been murdered and the police were not arresting the accused nominated in the FIR on which Javed directed the DIG Investigation to arrest the accused and investigate the case properly.
Gulzar Ahmed of Khanewal complained that his neighbour had stolen 45Kg copper and 25Kg brass from his shop, but police were not registering the case. Javed ordered the Khanewal DPO to register a case and arrest the culprit.
