QUETTA: Armed men fired on a car, killing three people, including a four-year-old boy, in Sabzal road area on Sunday. Sources said that Abdul Qadir Mohammad Hasni was going to a bazaar when his car was ambushed. Two people in the car were killed on the spot while three others suffered serious injuries. The child, who was playing in the area, was hit by a stray bullet and died on the spot.
QUETTA: Unidentified gunmen on Sunday killed three people including a four-year old child and injured three others near the Golimaar Chowk in Quetta. According to reports the assailants opened indiscriminate fire on a group of people waiting for a bus on a roadside.
KARACHI: Twenty-two-year-old Azam Khan was killed late Saturday night near his residence in the jurisdiction of the Landhi Police Station. According to some unconfirmed reports, he and some others had also received bullet wounds when some youths opened fire during his sister-in-law’s Rasm-e-Mehndi ceremony, held in the same area.
KARACHI: The security guard of a private company was mysteriously shot dead while he was deployed at a private firm near Bakra Piri, in the jurisdiction of the Malir City Police Station. His body was taken to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) for legal formalities where he was identified as Mushtaq Ali, aged 22, a resident of a katchi abadi in Malir.
LARKANA: The Keti Mumtaz police found a decomposed body of a kidnap victim on the right bank of River Indus near More Chandio village on Sunday and shifted it to Naudero Hospital. The deceased was identified as Fakhruddin Domki, assistant engineer of the highway department.
LAHORE: The Model Town Division Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) have arrested nine members of a gang of criminals and seized cash, mobile phones, gold ornaments and weapons from them. The suspects have confessed to killing two people during a robbery attempt and they have committed as many as 28 robberies in the city.
VEHARI: Saddar police reportedly gave a free hand to five masked bandits to plunder several car riders, motorcyclists and passengers of a wagon at a picket they (criminals) set up on Vehari-Mian Channu Road at 12 Morr stop on Sunday.
ATTOCK: A proclaimed offender (PO) was killed allegedly in an encounter with police near village Gandakus of Kalachita in the jurisdiction of the Basal police station, while a man drowned in Indus river near Jand. In the first incident, the police arrested the proclaimed offender’s brother and another man and recovered weapons from them. However, his father, also a PO, managed to escape from the scene during the operation.
QUETTA: Police have seized 650 kilogrammes of high explosives from a vehicle in the Killi Darwishabad area after a clash with suspected militants. According to sources, police had ordered two vehicles to stop for a check on Saturday night but the drivers tried to escape. They were chased by police but people in the two vehicles opened fire. The police personnel returned fire and the encounter lasted more than half an hour.
RAWALPINDI: The city police are all set to launch a massive crackdown on car theft to instil a sense of security among people, police sources told Daily Times on Sunday. They said around 375 people were deprived of their vehicles during the first six months of this year. They said the police had adopted different techniques to bring down the rising number of car lifting cases.
