Four killed in Mohmand blast
GHALANAI: Three militants and a passer-by were killed in an explosion in the Mohmand Agency on Saturday. Two other men were injured. Local people said the explosion occurred in a vehicle parked outside a workshop in the Mamad Gut area. According to eyewitnesses, the militants were on their way to their ‘headquarters’ in the Qandaru area when their vehicle developed a fault. They said that explosives went off inside the vehicle. The workshop and the vehicle were completely destroyed, they added.
The militants who were killed were identified as Sultan Zeb, Qasim and Hakeem and the bystander was named as Zairek. The injured, including some militants, were taken to a local hospital. Meanwhile, the militants assured leaders of the Haleemzai tribe that they would not carry out objectionable activities in their area. The decision was taken at a meeting held earlier in the day. However, the militants had said they would take action against ‘criminals and other anti-social elements’. Sources said a ceasefire accord would soon be finalised.
