Human trafficker arrested
LAHORE: A team of Anti Human Trafficking Cell (AHTC) of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) claimed to have arrested a human trafficker on Monday. FIA Inspector Mubashar told Daily Times that Khurram Pervaiz was at large for the last couple of years. He said Khurram had been trafficking Russian and Uzbek girls into Pakistan for prostitution. The team also raided a prostitution den in WAPDA Town and arrested nine foreign prostitutes. In 2006, he said FIA teams had busted several prostitution dens that were offering foreign prostitutes. He said during interrogation some of those prostitutes were found to be spies.
Inspector Mubashar said Khurram Pervaiz was behind these dens. When the FIA tried to arrest him, he got an interim bail from the court. He said the FIA, however, had managed to record his statement later.
He said the FIA had found that Khurram was a memberof an international trafficking gang, which had a network in India, Russia, Uzbekistan and Bangladesh. On Monday, he said, the FIA had received a tip-off that Khurram was visiting Lahore after two years. The FIA deputed some officials who arrested him from Gulshan-e-Ravi.
During initial interrogation Khurram disclosed that he had rented houses for foreign girls and trafficked several girls into Pakistan. He also disclosed that he had links with other international gangs. Inspector Mubashar said the officials were investigating the matter. He said the AHTC would probe into the matter and seek International Police’s help in order to arrest Khurram’s accomplices.
