Lahore: Case registered against four police officials
LAHORE: A case has been registered against the Sabzazar deputy superintendent of police, Hanjerwal incharge investigation and two other officials on the charges of poor investigation of a murder case and corruption.
Incharge Investigation Inspector Tariq Mehmood, Sub-Inspector Ijaz Cheema and Constable Karam Elahi were arrested in the police station where they had been posted. A murder case No. 676/07 was registered under section 302,148,149 and 7ATA in Hanjerwal police station and Hanjerwal Incharge Investigation Inspector Tariq Mehmood was told to investigate it, but he did not fulfill his duty properly. Township supervisor police officer (SPO) also held the Hanjerwal investigation staff responsible for negligence and corruption.
An application was lodged to Investigation Deputy Inspector General (DIG) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhaira in which allegations were made against Sabzazar SPO, Incharge Investigation and two other officials for not upholding merit during investigation and accepting huge amounts of money as bribes from the accused.
The Investigation DIG directed Investigation Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Zulifqar Hameed to conduct an inquiry into the matter. A case was registered against Sabzazar SPO Aashiq Jatt, Inspector Tariq Mehmood, Sub-Inspector Ijaz Cheema and Constable Karam Elahi. The three officials including inspector, sub inspector and constable were arrested.
