DSP issued notice for not producing sub-inspector in handcuffs
LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) on Tuesday issued contempt of court notice to Muridke Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Raja Sadaqat for not producing a sub-inspector in handcuffs in compliance with the court order. Justice M Bilal Khan had issued non-bailable arrest warrants for Sub-Inspector Ijaz Ahmed of Narang Mandi Police Station after he had failed to produce the record of a murder case in the court on May 30.
On Tuesday, the DSP brought Ijaz Ahmed in uniform and without handcuffs. The judge told the DSP to bring the sub-inspector as was advised. The DSP brought him (Ijaz) again after removing crowns from his uniform on which the court asked him why contempt of court proceedings should not be initiated against him.
At this, he sought written apology from the court and produced the sub-inspector without uniform and in handcuffs, but the judge issued him the notice and adjourned the proceedings for Wednesday (today). The judge also directed the Sheikhupura district police officer to appear before the court on the next hearing.
