Karachi: Doctor shot dead in snatching
KARACHI: Fifty-year old Dr Maqsood Ali was shot dead by an unidentified man near Iqra University, Defense Phase-1, at 4:30 p.m. Wednesday as he and his wife were on their way to clinic. The clinic is located in Bilal Colony, Korangi. Ali was shot once in the chest and died on the way to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC), said ASI Wali Mohammad. FIR No. 158/08 was registered by his son Abid Ali. The deceased has left behind five children.
Revenge Doran Khan, 55, a bus stand owner and his manager Abid Ali, 40, were killed near the bus stand in Al-Asif Square, Sohrab Goth within the jurisdiction of Federal ‘B’ Industrial Area Police Station (PS).
The incident took place at 1:45 p.m. when the victims were on their way home, said SHO Javed Sikandar, adding that three armed men came on motorcycles and opened fire on them. The deceased were not on good terms with their rival group leader Raja Sikandar Hayat, who is also a transporter, the officer said. “Earlier, two of the victims’ friends and one of Hayat were killed in Mirpurkhas and this incident was a continuity of the feud,” the officer explained.
The bodies were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital and were later handed over to their families after autopsies. The deceased belonged to the Punjab but was living in Baldia Town Karachi. Khan had four children while Ali had two. An FIR number 51/08 on behalf of Khan’s nephew Zar Khan has been registered against Hayat and his two unidentified associates. Further investigation is in progress.
