Rawalpindi: 50 beggars arrested
RAWALPINDI: City police have arrested about 50 beggars, including eight women, from different areas during the last two days. A press statement said on Friday that police had launched an operation against the beggars on June 4 on the directive of City Police Officer Rao Muhammad Iqbal. It said 27 beggars, including seven women, were booked, while others would be dealt with in accordance with law. Most of the beggars have been arrested from shopping centres, bus stations, mosques, hospitals and railway station premises, the press statement said, adding, the operation would continue unless a complete crackdown was conducted on the beggars.
