Balochistan House controller shot dead in Karachi
KARACHI: The caretaker chief controller of Karachi’s Balochistan House was shot dead early Sunday afternoon in Gulistan-e-Johar. Fayyaz Hussain, 62, was the caretaker chief controller of Balochistan House, in Block 6, PECHS, Ferozabad, said Gulshan Town SP Sohail Zafar Chattha. “He had an old enmity with a current Balochistan minister, Asim Kurd,” he said.
Quoting the deceased’s son, Atif, Inquiry Officer Muhammad Khalid told Daily Times that Kurd gave Atif’s father two guns to hold for some time but someone stole them. Kurd had been asking about the guns and pushing for their return. He was also making threatening calls to Hussain.
Khalid added that soon before the incident, a man named Muhammad Khan Mengal called the deceased and called him to Block 7, Gulistan-e-Jauhar, saying that Hussain’s problem had been solved and he could collect the guns from him (Mengal).
When Hussain reached the spot, the man was standing there. Suddenly, three unidentified men jumped out from behind the bushes, dragged Hussain out of the car and fired at him. They also beat his driver, Faik, and fled in Hussain’s car, leaving it some distance away. The body was taken to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center.
The police have registered FIR No. 288/08 on Atif’s behalf against Asim Kurd, three of his accomplices, Bashir, Khadim Hussaina and Muhammad Ashfaq, and three unidentified men. The deceased hailed from Rawalpindi and his body was taken to his hometown for burial.
