Dadu: SHO suspended for abetting murder
DADU: Hyderabad region DIG Dr Sanaullah Abbasi on Wednesday suspended an SHO after a girl, who had eloped with a man and was arrested by the police official, died in mysterious circumstances in Lohi town of Balochistan three days ago.
The girl Naseeban Barecho, 19, had eloped with Younus Barecho, 20, and fled her home in union council Tando Rahim Khan in Khirthar mountains range near Sindh’s border with Balochistan, to marry in a court.
Police arrested the couple 20 days ago and handed them over to Tando Rahim Khan Union Council Nazim Aslam Khan Jangwani after keeping them in detention at the police station for two days.
Sources said that the UC nazim handed over Naseeban to an influential man, Wadero Jan Mohammad Barecho of Lohi, who allegedly poisoned the girl to death three days ago and buried her in Lohi area without giving her proper burial.
The sources said that Younis Barecho was still in the custody of the nazim. The suspended SHO Imamuddin Khoso told journalists that he had arrested the couple about 20 days ago and handed them over to the UC nazim after recording the couple’s and nazim’s statements. He said that he did not know about Naseeban’s murder.
DIG Sanaullah Abbasi has ordered Drigh Bala DSP Sikandar Hussain Qadri to conduct an inquiry into the murder, trace Younus and get him released if he was still in the nazim’s custody.
The girl’s murder case had been registered against the SHO and the nazim, Mr Abbasi said. Dadu DPO Manzoor Hussain Khatiyan said that the SHO and the UC nazim had been arrested. He claimed that Tando Rahim police had handed over the couple to the nazim who had promised that they would be produced in court.
