Karachi: 2 political workers held for street crime
KARACHI: Four people allegedly involved in separate street crime incidents have been arrested, two of who are workers of political parties. New Karachi Industrial Area police with the help of locals arrested two men, Zulfikar alias Zulfi and Naeemuddin, on Thursday near Saba Chowrangi, Sector 11-F. The FIR for the robbery was registered on behalf of complainant Bahadur Ali. Police claim to have recovered two TT pistols from their possession. They are apparently members of a political party.
Ali stated that he and a friend were approached by four men on motorcycles, who tried to rob them of their cell phones. Ali, who tried to resist was shot but still managed to prevent two of the four robbers from escaping.
SIO Ashraf Gujjar claimed that the complainant and the arrested men were all property dealers by profession and knew each other. According to the initial investigation, Gujjar stated that he does not believe this was a robbery, as the arrested men were residents of the same area. They also have licenses for the weapons that were recovered from their possession.
The officer explained that it is rare for someone to commit a robbery in front of their own house. He claimed that the complainant was having a fight with someone else and the arrested men came forward to stop it. But as there might have been some prior animosity, Ali took advantage of the situation and had them arrested in a fake case. He has not returned to the police station even after the police asked him to come in for the case.
