Karak: Wheat smuggling bid foiled, 5 held
KARAK: The local police on Thursday foiled a bid to smuggle flour to Afghanistan and arrested five smugglers. Terri Police Station was tipped off that flour was being smuggled to Afghanistan in five trucks. A police team led by Station House Officer Gul Shadi Khan blocked Terri Gurguri Road at Banda Daud Shah and seized five trucks (PLH 287, PQH 697, LSB 3358, JR1595 and PRJ 6365) bound for Afghanistan via Tal.
A total of 3,320 flour bags were recovered and five smugglers arrested. They were identified as Riaz, Muhammad Raheem, Izat Khan, Noor and Rahman, all residents of Parachinar. A case has been registered against the accused and investigations started. It is pertinent to mention that in the recent past Banda Daud Shah police had also seized flour trucks laden with flour in Gurguri area. The flour was being smuggled to Afghanistan via the same route.
