Lahore: Suspected rapist granted bail
LAHORE: Justice Khurshid Anwar Bhindar of the Lahore High Court on Saturday granted bail to Manzoor Ahmad, accused of raping a girl. A case against the accused had been registered after six months of the incident and the victim was also medically examined after a lapse of six months. The judge observed that the prosecution story seemed concocted, fabricated and unbelievable and the cases needed to be further investigated.
The Faisalabad Sadar police had registered a case against Manzoor on May 5, 2007, for allegedly raping Abid Parveen. The court observed that according to the prosecution, there were three witnesses of the incident, including the victim’s brother, but they never tried to apprehend the accused.
“It seems improbable, implausible and unbelievable that a rape was being committed, but the witnesses watched the occurrence and did not move to save the victim. The judge also observed that a medical examination conducted after six months of the incident had no significance.
