Lahore: Case registered against revenue officer, 19 patwaris
LAHORE: Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) officials on Sunday registered a case against Mandi Bahauddin revenue officer (RO), 19 Patwaris and a naib qasid. ACE has been allowed to arrest them.
According to a handout issued by the Directorate General Public Relations, Mandi Bahauddin District Officer (Revenue) Chaudhry Naseer Ahmed had filed a complaint with the ACE officials that original official mutation and ownership documents of four thousand landowners were not available with the Saddar Muhafiz Khana. He said the photocopies, however, were placed there, which was against the law.
Anti Corruption officials said the 19 patwaris and a naib qasid, under the directions of the RO had took the documents in their possession. They raided at the house of Naib Qasid Muhammad Nawaz and recovered the documents.
During interrogation, the ACE officials had come to know that the accused had collected millions of rupees from the landowners in order to issue ownership letters, but did not submit the money to the government. The officials also recovered Rs 1.9 million from the naib qasid.
The accused are RO Irfan Ali, patwaris Riaz Ahmed, Sikandar Javed, Azam, Nawaz, Arif, Pandowal, Ali Abbass, Tahir, Barkat, retired patwaris Abdul Khaliq, Nazir Ahmed, Nazir, Raza Hussain, Muhammad Nawaz, Imtiaz Ahmed, Safdar Iqbal, Ghulam Qadir, Munir Ahmed, Siddique Ahmed, Mushtaq Ahmed and Naib Qasid Muhammad Nawaz.
