Two convicts get life term, three acquited
RAWALPINDI: District and sessions court on Tuesday awarded life imprisonment to two convicts, including a woman, for murdering a man in Kalar Syedan. It, however, ordered release of three other accused. The two convicts were Zameer Hussain Shah and Nighat Bibi. The judge, Azam Ali, also ordered each of them to pay Rs 50,000 to the family of the slain person, Anjum Naveed, to avoid six months jail.
The Kalar Syedan police had arrested five persons including two police officials in the murder case in 2002. The court had ordered the arrest of Zameer, Nighat Bibi, Safdar Shah and Assistant Sub-Inspectors Mukhtar Ahmad and Safdar Hussain at the request of the deceased’s brother, who claimed his brother was murdered. The police had earlier declared the death suicide. The court on Tuesday ordered life imprisonment to Zameer and Nighat Bibi and ordered the release of Safdar Shah and ASIs Mukhtar Ahmad and Safdar Hussain.
