Rawalpindi: Man recovered, 8 kidnappers arrested
RAWALPINDI: The Rawalpindi police on Wednesday recovered a man, who was kidnapped from the limits of Wah Cantt police station on June 4, and arrested eight kidnappers including two women and the ringleader, said City Police Officer (CPO) Rao Muhammad Iqbal, while addressing a press conference here.
The CPO said Syed Zanoon Arshad, a resident of Muslim Town, Rawalpindi, went to Wah Cantt on June 4 to sale his property, but was kidnapped and shifted to an unknown place. The kidnappers had demanded Rs 10 million as ransom for his release, the CPO said.
Iqbal said Arshad’s brother, Syed Haseeb, informed Rawalpindi police about his kidnapping. He said a special team was constituted under the supervision of Superintendent of Police (SP) Investigation Rana Shahid to recover Arshad. Within two weeks, he added, the team recovered Arshad and arrested eight accused including Shamshad Begum, Ulfat Bibi, ringleader Ahsanullah, Javed, Jamroz Khan, Mutwali Khan, Abrar and Muhammad Javed. Police also recovered four pistols, 35 rounds, a television set and a car from the accused. Talking to Daily Times, Arshad said the kidnappers had kept him in a dark room and adopted different techniques to get ransom amount from his family.
