Mother of five killed in Karachi
KARACHI: A mother of five children was shot dead by robbers during a robbery bid within the jurisdiction of Gulistan-e-Johar police station. Three robbers broke into a house in Block 4, Mughal Hazara Goth at around 3:45 a.m. They took the family members hostage and when Shamim, 50, wife of Bashir, resisted they shot and killed her. After hearing the gunshots, area people and police reached the spot and pursued the fleeing bandits. The police, with the help of deceased’s children, arrested one of the dacoits, who was identified as Ashraf Ali, son of Rehman Ali. There were the reports that the police, on the arrested robber’s information, have arrested two more suspects.
Meanwhile, unidentified men killed forty-five-year-old Shamim and injured his nephew, Naimat Khan, 25, within the jurisdiction of Shah Latif police station. Shamim, a resident of Hijrat Colony, was at his scrap warehouse in Omer Marwi Goth, when armed men came and opened fire on them. The victims were taken to JPMC. According to nearby shopkeepers, the incident took place when the two resisted a robbery bid but the police believed it to be due to an old enmity, as a brother of the deceased was a policeman and was killed nearly four years ago.
Three persons were injured in various incidents around the city. According to the police, robbers shot and injured Azhar Iqbal in North Nazimabad, Block N, while 20-year-old Saleem was shot at and inured by dacoits in Ahsanabad, Sohrab Goth. Nasir was injured in Bhains Colony.
