Lahore: Arms trafficker arrested CIA
LAHORE: Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) claimed to have arrested a criminal for selling illegal weapons, preparing fake arm licences and seized a huge cache of arms from him. According to an official handout on Sunday, the CIA was tipped off that Ishtiaque Ahmed, a resident of Mian Mir Colony, Dharampura, was selling illegal weapons to proclaimed offenders involved in heinous crimes.
Investigation Wing DIG Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera directed CIA SP Muhammad Umar Virk to arrest Ishtiaque. The DIG also formed a special team led by CIA Inspector (City Division) Raees Ahmed Khan for this purpose. The team claimed to have arrested Ishtiaque on Sunday.
During interrogation, Ishtiaque confessed to prepare fake arm licences. Four cases have been registered against him in various police stations of the city. The team seized 32 pistols, two revolvers, five pump actions, 11 repeaters, seven rifles and more than 1,500 bullets from him. Capital City Police Officer Muhammad Pervez Rathore has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the police raiding team.
