Lahore: Constable shot dead on resistance
LAHORE: Two alleged robbers gunned down a police constable in Factory Area when he was on his way home after performance of duty on Monday. Police suspected the robbers shot dead the constable on offering resistance during street crime. The victim, Muhammad Irfan, deployed outside the Model Town residence of PML-N patron Mian Nawaz Sharif, was on way back to his home along with his brother Imran in plainclothes, also a police constable, after discharging his duty.
When they alighted from the bus and were passing along Madina Colony, two motorcyclists intercepted them. Irfan offered resistance as a result of which one of the robbers fired at him from point-blank range. He died on way to the Lahore General Hospital. According to the victim’s brother, the family had no enmity. Police shifted the body for autopsy and registered a case against unknown killers with no arrest so far.
