Lahore: Tayyeba rape case: Lawyer wants case against suspects
LAHORE: Free Legal Aid and Settlement (FLAS) Chairman Advocate Sheikh Anis Ahmed Ali on Tuesday filed a petition in the court of a judicial magistrate seeking the registration of a case against men who had allegedly attacked him for defending a rape victim.
He submitted that he and his colleagues, advocates Mian Saif Bashir and Pervaiz Aslam, were going to Lahore from Ferozewala on June 2 when three motorcyclists started shots in the air, pulling them over and thrashed them for appearing against Zubair, the alleged rapist of seven-year-old Tayyeba.
He said the accused warned them of dire consequences if they (the lawyers) did not stop supporting the victim. He said that he and his family received threatening calls several times asking him not to pursue the case.
