KARACHI: Two people have been killed in separate incidents of people firing into the sky at wedding ceremonies over the past two days but no one has been arrested. The most recent incident occurred at ‘N’ area, Sector 35-A, in the jurisdiction of Korangi police station. The victim was identified as fifteen-year-old Waqas.

He was taken to JMPC, but could not be saved. According to on-duty policeman Mushtaq, participants of a wedding ceremony of Afaq had started shooting into the sky on their way to a marriage hall in Ghonghat, Korangi. Police have registered an FIR on behalf of the deceased’s father against unidentified men. “Both families are tightlipped as no one obviously wants to nominate a relative in the FIR,” said SHO Mukhtiar Khaskheli. He said that the culprits would soon be arrested. A similar event occurred on June 26 during a mehndi ceremony in Bahadurabad.
