Lahore: CIA arrests 4 thieves
LAHORE: A city division team of the Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) has arrested four criminals involved in cash, cell phone and gold ornaments snatching, and seized looted property and weapons from them, according to a handout issued on Saturday.
It said that the accused had confessed to 19 crimes during the preliminary interrogation. Deputy Inspector General (Investigation) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhaira and Senior Superintendent of Police (Investigation) Zulfiqar Hameed had directed CIA SP Muhammad Umer Virk to take effective measures against gangs involved in street crime and theft. A team was constituted under the supervision of CIA DSP city division, which collected information about the Ramzan alias Jani gang and arrested 4 men from Shahdara on a tip-off.
The gang used to snatch valuables from passers-by at gunpoint in Lahore and Sheikhupura. The police recovered Rs 40,000, six cell phones, cloth worth Rs 90,000, four pistols and bullets from their possession. The arrested were identified as ringleader Ramzan alias Jani, Nisar Ullah, Mehmood Ahmad and Abdullah. Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervez Rathore announced cash prizes and certificates for those responsible for the arrests.
