Lahore: Model Town CIA busts gang of criminals, nine arrested
LAHORE: The Model Town Division Crime Investigation Agency (CIA) have arrested nine members of a gang of criminals and seized cash, mobile phones, gold ornaments and weapons from them. The suspects have confessed to killing two people during a robbery attempt and they have committed as many as 28 robberies in the city.
According to an official handout issued on Sunday, on the direction of Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Pervaiz Rathore and DIG (Investigation) Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhaira, a special team was constituted under the supervision of CIA superintendent of police (SP) Muhammad Umer Virk which gathered information about Salim alias Kudda gang and arrested nine of its members.
The gangsters shot dead a woman on May 25, 2008, in Nishtar Colony and a car driver in Kahna in December 2007 when they resisted to them. The gang was active in Kahna, Nishtar Colony, Barki, Nasirabad and Liaqatabad. The police have recovered Rs 150,000, 17 mobile phones, 70 grammes of gold ornaments, six buffaloes, one 7mm rifle, one carbine, six pistols and bullets from them.
The arrested were identified as Salim alias Kudda, Pitras, Nasir Ali, Laiqat Ali, Nazakat Ali, Zulfiqar Ali, Imran alias Bantia and Irfan. The CCPO has announced cash prizes and commendatory certificates for the raiding team members.
