Transporter killed in Karachi
KARACHI: Twenty-two-year-old Azam Khan was killed late Saturday night near his residence in the jurisdiction of the Landhi Police Station. According to some unconfirmed reports, he and some others had also received bullet wounds when some youths opened fire during his sister-in-law’s Rasm-e-Mehndi ceremony, held in the same area.
The deceased was a drug peddler. SHO Pervaiz Akhtar Bungash denied this and said that the deceased was a transporter by profession and that he, along with his family, had some old enmities, because of which earlier, one of his brothers had also been killed. Explaining the incident, the officer said some unidentified men on a motorcycle shot him while he was on his way to attend the ceremony. The deceased got married nearly 11 months ago and left behind his six-month-pregnant wife, the officer added. The police have registered FIR No. 135/08 on behalf of his father, Ajab Khan, against unidentified men.
