GUJAR KHAN: The local police have booked 12 persons for resorting to intensive firing in the air at a marriage party in Gujar Khan city damaging transmission line and a transformer of Iesco on Monday night.
MIRANSHAH: Local Taliban killed an Afghan woman in the Degan area of North Waziristan on Wednesday after accusing her of spying for the US forces in Afghanistan. This is the second incident of the Taliban killing a woman on the charge of spying. The other woman was killed in Bajaur on June 11.
LAKKI MARWAT: Unknown miscreants set on fire a makeshift hotel on Faqeeran road near the main bus stand on Tuesday night. Police reached the site soon after the incident and called the fire brigade of Tehsil Municipal Administration. However, the fire brigade could not reach the place in time. Tehsil Nazim Fareedullah Khan gave Rs4,000 to the poor owner and assured that the TMA would compensate his losses.
Lahore: The City Traffic Police got two cases registered against two managers and two hawkers for running illegal bus stands and receiving extortion from Ravi Road, Lorri Adda and Shahdara areas on Wednesday.
LAKKI MARWAT: Four people including two absconders were killed in an armed clash between two rival groups in Agari Khanzad Khel village in the area of Ghaznikhel police station on Wednesday. According to reports, two groups clashed over an old blood feud resulting in the killing of Bashir and Gul Aslam from one side and Abdul Rahim and his son Ahmad Khan from the other.
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified militants killed Dera Ismail Khan District Account Officer (DAO) Syed Arif Hussain Shah, police said on Wednesday. Two gunmen, riding a motorcycle, opened fire at Shah near the Pir Zakori graveyard on Zhob Road, when he was on his way to office.
QUETTA: The Frontier Corps foiled an attempt to smuggle a large quantity of hashish across the border on Wednesday. According to sources, FC personnel intercepted a convoy of donkeys carrying the drugs in Gulistan area and seized 740kg of hashish. The smugglers managed to escape.

KARACHI: A 45-year-old man was shot dead on Wednesday by his two younger brothers in Bilal Colony, police said. Quaidabad police said Sher Mohammed, son of Rasheed Khan, was shot dead at his house at around 12.30pm by his brothers, Akhtar and Siraj, who fled the scene.
KOHAT: Militants holding talks with a tribal jirga in Orakzai Agency released on Wednesday two hostages they had kidnapped along with eight officers of the Water Management Board on June 30.
