Rawalpindi: Man shot dead, woman injured
RAWALPINDI: A man was shot dead on Monday on the outskirts of the capital in Chontra. According to the police, Abdul Rauf, 25, was on way to his shop when Tassawar, Mazhar, Abdul Khaliq and Qayyum sprayed him with bullets. The attack proved fatal. The assailants reportedly had an old enmity with the deceased.
The body was handed over to the aggrieved family after autopsy. The police later began investigation after registering a murder case against nominated attackers.
A man on Monday fired gunshots at a female relative in a Saddar Bairooni locality over a family dispute. The woman, Gul Zareen, was stated to be in critical condition at District Headquarters Hospital. Cars, motorbike stolen Auto-thieves on Monday lifted three cars and a motorbike from the city’s different areas.
Muhammad Riaz’s car was stolen from the parking lot of District Headquarters (DHQ) Hospital, Aitzaz Ahmad’s from Saddar and Zaheer Ahmad’s from Chirah Road in Sadiqabad. Aftab Ahmad’s motorbike was lifted from Khurd Road in Taxila. Respective police stations registered cases against unidentified auto-thieves and began investigation.
Killer gets death penalty Additional District and Sessions Judge Ghulam Mehdi Khan on Monday awarded death sentence to a murder convict. The court also imposed Rs 0.2 million fine on the convict, Iftikhar Hussain, who had been arrested by Chontra police for murdering Ibrar Hussain on a land dispute last year.
