Lahore: CIA arrests model’s kidnapper
LAHORE: The Criminal Investigation Agency (CIA) City Division on Thursday claimed to have arrested a man who had kidnapped a renowned model, Waqas, for a Rs 200 million ransom. The police said that Engineer Muhammad Ali Zaman, owner of a private construction company, knew Waqas for a long time. They said that Zaman told Waqas on June 28 that he had arranged a meeting with a foreigner to sign a modelling agreement. They said that the accused took the model to his office in WAPDA Town, and then to a flat in Ahad Arcade in Garden Town, where he tied Waqas with a rope.
They said that the accused contacted Waqas’s mother on June 29 and demanded Rs 200 million for his release. The police said that Waqas managed to untie himself on July 1 and informed the police about the apartment – Zaman was at his own house at that time. The team recovered Waqas safely and arrested the accused by tracking him through his mobile phone, the police said.
