Corruption case against SHO, two others
TOBA TEK SINGH: The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) has registered a case against the former Gojra city police station house officer (SHO), a sub-inspector (SI) and an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) for allegedly receiving Rs187,000 bribe in a murder case.
SHO Ayaz, SI Maqsood and ASI Bashir allegedly received the money from Irshad, a murder suspect, to declare him innocent in their investigation report. Later, Irshad was acquitted of the murder charge by a court.
After his acquittal, Irshad filed a complaint against the policemen to the ACE and an investigation found them guilty of bribery. As a result, the ACE registered a case against the three policemen and ordered their arrest. ASI Bashir has been arrested. However, SHO Ayaz is in Saudi Arabia to perform umrah, while SI Maqsood has secured bail before arrest from a court.
