DSP, SHO suspended over Karachi blasts
KARACHI: A deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and a station house officer (SHO) have been suspended after being found guilty of negligence in the preliminary enquiry into the series of bomb blasts on July 7. According to Capital City Police Officer Wasim Ahmed, Shadman Town DSP Shah Jahan Khan and Korangi SHO Rafiq Shah, failed to deliver a prompt response after blasts in their respective areas.
He informed that both officers had been suspended and an inquiry against them initiated. However, the departmental action contradicts the stance of the Sindh home minister, who had earlier stated that the police had performed satisfactorily in the wake of the blasts. Ahmed said that the overall performance of the police had been satisfactory, as there were no security lapses and these were the only two officers found guilty of negligence. The CCPO said that the investigation was in its preliminary stages and further errors could still be revealed over the course of the probe.
