Another lost in gang war
KARACHI: An 18-year-old man was shot dead during an encounter between rival gangs in Lyari on Saturday. Deputy Inspector General South Zone Iqbal Mehmood had held a press conference in Lyari on July 10, where he had assured the media that the agencies had successfully dispersed the gangsters of Lyari.
However, during an encounter between the Rehman Dakait group and a rival group at Aath Chowk, within the jurisdiction of Baghdadi police station, 18-year-old Aqeel Ahmed was shot and died upon reaching Civil hospital. The deceased’s family took the body away without allowing the legal formalities. On-duty police officer, Mashooq Baloch, told Daily Times that the victim’s family did not cooperate with the police, adding that the police was waiting for them to register a case, failing which a case will be registered on the government’s behalf.
