Rawalpindi: Resisting robbers costs life
RAWALPINDI: The incidents of murder on resistance against robbers are on the rise in Rawalpindi, as three men were shot dead in different robberies last week.
About 13 cases of robbery were registered with different police stations of the city during last week and victim families were deprived of valuables worth millions of rupees. Most of the robberies occurred at late night. Armed dacoits broke into houses, made the family members hostages and looted them at gunpoint. Police have failed to trace the outlaws and recover the valuables.
The murders occurred during robberies in the limits of Saddar Bairooni, RA Bazaar and Kahuta police stations. Wah Cantonment police station remained on top with six robberies while two robberies occurred in the limits of Waris Khan police station and one each in limits of Banni and Westridge police stations.
There was a similarity in the robberies as in most of the cases victims nominated four to five armed men who made them hostage and looted valuables.
According to details, the first incident of bloody robbery occurred in the limits of Saddar Bairooni Police Stations on July 6. The complainant informed police that 10 unknown armed people broke into his house and made the inmates hostage at gunpoint. On resistance, they shot complainant’s brother Sajid dead and escaped from the scene after looting the house. Police have yet no clue to robbers.
In another incident in the limits RA Bazaar police station on July 7, robbers gunned down a cabbie Waseem Saddozai, 52, on resistance and took away his cab (LOZ-2889). Police found Saddozai’s body near Harley Street. Police are investigating the case. Preliminary investigations revealed that three to four people, who hired his cab, tried to snatch the vehicle and shot the cabbie dead on resistance.
The third incident of murder occurred in the limits of Kahuta police station on July 8 late night. Bashir Ahmad lodged a First Information Report with the police that four armed men broke into his house and made his family hostage at gunpoint. On resistance, they shot dead his brother and also shot injured him. While fleeing, the robbers also kidnapped Waqas, 12. Police are investigating the case.
