2 men shot dead in Karachi
KARACHI: Two young men were shot dead in different parts of the city on Monday, police and witnesses said. A 23-year-old man was killed and his friend was injured by two bandits who wanted to rob them of their money and cellular phones.
The witnesses said two young men were on their way on a scooter when they were intercepted by two motorcyclists near Jama Cloth Market on M.A. Jinnah Road at around 1:20pm. They said the interceptors opened fire on the victims and fled.
The body and injured were shifted to nearby Civil Hospital where doctors pronounced Fahim Ahmed, son of Ishaq, dead. Hospital sources said Fahim was shot a single bullet in his upper torso from a point blank range.
They said the 20-year-old injured, Mansoor Ali, received a single bullet in his back. The bullet went through the victim’s left armpit and stuck into his left arm. He was later shifted to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre for further treatment.
The victim’s father, Ramzan Ali, told Dawn that his son and Fahim were going to the city railway station to have a cup of tea when the bandits intercepted them. Quoting his son, he said his son, who was riding pillion on the Vespa, attempted to run away as he saw his friend wounded by the bandits. “The bandits also shot at him as he started running away”, he added.
He said Fahim’s father was a junk dealer at Shershah. Meanwhile, the bullet-riddled body of a young man was found in a gunny bag at a garbage den in Ferozabad police limits. It was shifted to the JPMC. The victim received multiple bullet wounds, sources said, adding that the victim was tortured before he was shot dead.
