Layyah: Illegal adjustment of land cancelled
LAYYAH: After an inquiry ordered by the district coordination officer (DCO) on a news item published in this newspaper, the district officer revenue (DO (R)) has cancelled illegal adjustment of land measuring 1,079 kanal belonging to the Thal Development Authority (TDA).
Dawn had carried a news report on June 7 about illegal adjustment of land by the former DO (R) Ghulam Akbar Khichi on the pressure of the Layyah district nazim.
After the publication of the news report, DCO Javaid Iqbal ordered an inquiry and appointed DO (R) Qazi Zafer Iqbal inquiry officer.
The inquiry officer wrote to sub-registrar of Aziz Bhatti Town in Lahore to verify general power of attorney (GPA) No. 3,591 and 3,592 allegedly attested and registered by sub-registrar.
The sub-registrar of Aziz Bhatti Town reported that the GPA No 3,591 and 3,592 were never attested and registered in the name of Mian Saeed Anwar and the documents were indeed forged and fake.
Anwar had got allotted land in Chak No 428, 730-A, 489, 488, 369, 411, 428, 280, 492, 381, 481, 125-B, 123-A and 148-A of TDA and 117 ML in Chak Bairoon Mandi Town on the fake and forged document.
Later, Anwar sold all this illegally allotted land and transferred it through mutation No 15,606 and 4,377 to Muhammad Bilal, Muhammad Salal and Muhammad Ajalal, sons of District Nazim Malik Ghulam Haider Thind.
Through letter No 243-44DORADJ (C) dated July 12, 2008, the DO (R) ordered revenue officers of all the revenue states to cancel all the mutations entered and attested under adjustment orders issued on December 30, 2004, and May 9, 2005, in the name of Fakharuddin, son of Fazal Din, in Mouza Sumra Thal Kalan and Sumra Thal Jandi.
The DO (R) further ordered that mutations should be cancelled and entered in the name of TDA within two days. The DO (R) has also filed an appeal in the court of EDO (R) for cancellation of all these illegal adjustments.
