Quetta: FC seizes arms and drugs
QUETTA: The Balochistan Frontier Corps seized a large cache of drugs and weapons from a vehicle in Nokandi district on Wednesday morning. A press release said FC personnel had signalled a vehicle to stop during routine patrol, following which the driver had accelerated the vehicle and tried to outrun the officers in pursuit.
It said the vehicle’s occupants opened fire at the FC party, who returned fire and forced the occupants to abandon their vehicle. It said the occupants managed to escape on foot in the cover of darkness. The press release said the FC personnel seized 600 kilogrammes of opium, a 7 MM rifle, a rocket launcher, two heavy machineguns with 600 rounds of ammunition, six RPG-7 fuses and bombs, an anti-tank mine and five mortars from the vehicle.
