Quetta: Security personnel arrest nine illegal Uzbek immigrants
QUETTA: Security personnel have arrested nine illegal Uzbek immigrants near Chaman at the Pakistan-Afghanistan border on Thursday, Online reported.
According to private TV channel, law-enforcement agencies arrested nine illegal Uzbek immigrants during an operation. Sources said that the immigrants had wanted to cross the border at night.
They have been shifted to Quetta for investigation and security has been beefed up at the Chaman border.
Meanwhile, 73 Pakistanis were arrested by Iran border security guards at the Pakistan-Iran border. They were then handed over to Taftan police on Thursday evening, police officials at the border told APP.
They said that the people had crossed the border from Taftan town in vehicles and entered into the Iranian territory without legal documents. They wanted to proceed to Europe via Iran and Turkey. The police officials said that they would hand over the arrested people to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) after preliminary investigations.
