Islamabad: 4 FIA officials suspended for abetting Hamesh’s exit
ISLAMABAD: Adviser to the Prime Minister on Interior Rehman Malik has suspended four Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) officials for allegedly helping former Bank of Punjab president Hamesh Khan in fleeing the country through the Peshawar airport. Khan, allegedly involved in a Rs 9 billion scam, fled the country on May 28 despite having his name on the exit control list (ECL).
The suspended FIA officials are Assistant Director (Immigrations) Inamullah Gundapur, Inspector Naeem Khan, Sub-inspector Zahir Arbab and Assistant Sub-Inspector Humaira Abbasi, who is also a counter officer. The four have also been transferred from the Peshawar region, a press release said on Sunday. Sources said both National Accountability Bureau (NAB) and FIA authorities had helped Khan in fleeing the country.
