10-year old among 28 deported from Turkey
GUJRANWALA: A court on Monday slapped Rs0.4 million fine on each of the 28 people deported by Turkish authorities and arrested by the Federal Investigation Agency on their return.
The deportees who were arrested by FIA from Islamabad airport included a 10-year-old boy, Zeshan, of Kunja village, Gujrat, whose mother had reportedly paid Rs0.6 million to the agent to send the boy to Greece via Turkey, said FIA Additional Director Hussain Asgher.
However, the group was nabbed by the Turkish border authorities and deported back to Pakistan. Zeshan told journalists they were arrested before crossing into Greece in the dark of the night and were detained by Turkish border security.
The FIA questioned the deportees about the agents who had taken huge amounts from them to send them to greener pastures. Later they were produced in a court which fined them. FIA SHO Mian Sabir said the accused human agents would be arrested soon.
