Peshawar: Kidnapped child recovered, smuggling bid foiled
PESHAWAR: City police recovered a child, kidnapped from Sethi Town some 12 days back, from Badhaber Police Station limits and arrested two accused here on Monday, police said.
SP City Rab Nawaz Khan told reporters at a press conference at the police lines that police recovered the child Hamad, son of Ayub, resident of Sethi Town, without payment of any ransom.
He said that the child was kidnapped some 12 days back and his captors were demanding Rs 5 million ransom from his family for his release.
He said that Pahari Pura Police after registering First Information Report (FIR) raided a house in the limits of Badhaber Police Station and recovered the child and arrested an accused, Israr. Later, police also arrested another accused Shah Jehan Khan from Sethi Town on Israr’ information.
Meanwhile, Cantonment police foiled a bid to smuggle a huge quantity of hashish to Punjab and arrested two accused. SP Cantt Imran Shahid told reporters at police lines that police stopped a truck on a tip-off at Bara Ring Road and recovered around 336 kilograms of charas from the vehicle and arrested two accused Abdul Majid and Darya Khan, residents of Khajori area of Bara Tehsil. He said that the accused confessed that they were smuggling hashish to Punjab.
