Quetta: Police arrest 5 Afghans; thwart car bomb
QUETTA: Police in Quetta captured five suspected Afghan terrorists in possession of a large quantity of explosives after the completion of a successful search operation, Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Muhammad Akbar said on Monday.
He told reporters that police had successfully rounded up the five suspects in a raid in the Qilli Kashmirabad locality after receiving credible information about their terrorist plans.
The CCPO said that the police had also recovered a stolen car from the terrorists’ possession, adding that the seized explosives included 48 ball-bearing bombs. He said the police had also confiscated 10 mobile phones jury-rigged into a timed mechanism. In addition, he added, 13 detonators and two radio sets had also been recovered from the raided house.
He said police had also raided a garage in Kuchlak, a suburb of the city, and recovered a vehicle that was intended for a bombing. However, no one was arrested in the raid.
