Case against SHO for killing headmaster Villagers protest, block road
TOBA TEK SINGH: Pirmahal police registered a murder case against its SHO, his private gunman and a constable for killing a headmaster on Wednesday night.
Reports said that Attaullah, headmaster of a school in Lahore, was on the way to his native village 67516-GB, some 40kms from Toba, by a car.
A police party in plainclothes received information that some dacoits had snatched cash and a motorcycle from a farmer.
The policemen, riding a private car, signaled the vehicle of the headmaster to stop, but he mistook the plainclothesmen as dacoit and fired at them, injuring constable Safdar.
The headmaster was later killed in a retaliatory firing by the policemen. The injured constable was shifted to Allied Hospital, Faisalabad, in a critical condition.
The killing of the headmaster provoked villagers who blocked traffic on Faisalabad-Multan Road after midnight for three hours.
Villagers ended the protest when DPO Riaz Nazir assured them that a DSP would probe into the alleged encounter.
A large number of villagers gathered outside the Pirmahal Hospital on Thursday morning after arriving of the body of Attaullah from the DHQ Hospital following autopsy.
They refused to receive the body and blocked Faisalabad–Multan Road near Thana Chowk. Protesters also pelted stones on shops and demanded registration of a murder case against SHO Jamshed Chishti, his gunman Allah Ditta and constable Noor Muhammad.
They dispersed and took away the body with them when the murder case was registered against the accused policemen.
Meanwhile, the aggrieved family claimed that the police had registered an encounter case against the deceased and two other persons for injuring a constable.
