Lahore: SHO, SI arrested, inspector sacked
LAHORE: Two policemen, including a station house officer (SHO), have been arrested on the charges of offering bribe to a senior and embezzling seized goods. Moreover, the former Iqbal Town Investigation supervisor has been sent on compulsory retirement for misconduct.
According to a press release issued from the office of Senior Superintendent of Police (Operations) Chaudhry Shafiq, Sanda SHO Afzal Baig had been told to improve his performance and stop backing criminals.
The SHO visited the office of Iqbal Town Division Superintendent of Police (SP) Suhail Chaudhry on Thursday and offered him Rs 30,000. The SP informed the SSP (Operations) immediately, after which the SHO was arrested and locked up in Muslim Town Police Station.
The statement said that Model Town Crime Investigation Agency Sub-Inspector Habib Ahmed had been arrested on the charge of embezzling seized goods during the investigation of a case. The allegation was proved true during an inquiry, the press release said.
The DIG (Investigation) sacked former Iqbal Town investigation supervisor Muhammad Anwar on the charge of releasing an accused illegally.
