Lahore: Sub-inspector dismissed
LAHORE: Deputy Inspector General (DIG) (Investigation) Mushtaq Ahmad Sukhera on Monday dismissed Sub-Inspector Saifur-Rehman from service with immediate effect on charges of gross misconduct, torture and illegal detention of a citizen.
According to an official handout, Rehman had been demoted from the rank of inspector to sub-inspector a few days ago by the DIG. Rehman was dismissed following an application by Muhammad Saleem, who alleged that Rehman and other officers had illegally detained and tortured him. The Sheikhupura Range Complaint Cell incharge conducted an inquiry into the matter and found the allegations to be true. Moreover, 18 show cause notices, on other serious charges, were also found to be pending against Rehman. Considering the gravity of the allegations, the DIG dismissed the official with immediate effect.
