10 militants arrested in Dera Bugti
DERA MURAD JAMALI/QUETTA: Security forces on Tuesday arrested 10 militants after an exchange of fire from parts of Dera Bugti. Local police sources told APP that the militants were taken into custody during a search operation in Dera Bugti.
Meanwhile, unidentified militants opened fire with automatic weapons at a checkpost in Ghori Sangsila in Dera Bugti district. Also on Tuesday, police seized a huge cache of explosives from a house in Dera Murad Jamali.
A deputy superintendent of police told APP that a police party along with the local bomb disposal squad raided a house on a tip-off and seized more than 100 kilogrammes of explosives. Police also seized instruments used for manufacturing remote-control bombs. No arrest was made.
In Quetta, unidentified men blew up a 16-inch gas pipeline from Loti to Pir Koh, Online reported. The explosion suspended gas supply to several districts, NNI quoted the police as saying. Security forces have cordoned off the area and started investigation.
In a separate incident, police said that unidentified men opened fire on a security forces checkpost in Sui, but fled when the security forces retaliated. No casualty was reported.
In yet another incident in Quetta, police recovered a grenade placed outside a beauty parlour on Stewart Road in the Industrial Police Station jurisdiction on Tuesday.
The station house officer told APP that the grenade was packed in an envelope and had been placed beside a beauty parlour’s wall. Police have registered a case and started investigation.
