DI Khan: Gunmen kill DI Khan DAO in suspected sectarian attack
DERA ISMAIL KHAN: Unidentified militants killed Dera Ismail Khan District Account Officer (DAO) Syed Arif Hussain Shah, police said on Wednesday. Two gunmen, riding a motorcycle, opened fire at Shah near the Pir Zakori graveyard on Zhob Road, when he was on his way to office.
The police termed the incident a possible act of sectarian violence. The gunmen fled after the firing. No group has claimed responsibility for the killing.
Angry people blocked the road in front of the District Hospital in protest and shouted slogans against the banned militant outfit ‘Sipah-e-Sahaba’ and the local administration. Some of the protesters opened fire, injuring three persons – Amir Ali Mahsood, Muhammad Arif and Muhammad Khokar, who were moved to a hospital for treatment.
Tension gripped the city and shops and business centres remained closed. District Police Officer Abdul Ghafoor Kaisrani has directed the police to apprehend the assailants.
