KARACHI: The bullet–riddled and tortured body of Sheikh Amer Hassan, a renowned designer and former Geo Network director, was found early Saturday morning inside his house in Clifton police jurisdiction. He was apparently brutally tortured, after which four bullets were fired into his head.
KARACHI: Two people, including a security guard of the SP SITE Town, were killed and another was injured in a robbery incident in two different places on Saturday. Thirty–five–year–old Constable Sikander was on his way to work on his bike, when he was intercepted by two armed men near the Saeedabad police station. The men ordered him to hand over cash and his mobile phone at gunpoint. When he resisted they shot him dead and fled.
KARACHI: Armed dacoits robbed Rs 3.56 million from a local private bank in Block N of Taimooria, said the police Saturday. FIR No. 532/08 was registered by bank manager Rashid Mahmood. According to it, six armed men entered the bank, detained the security guards, snatched the money and even took the tape from the closed-circuit video camera. They left in their own car, but the police later found its numbers were fake.
LAHORE: A sixty–year–old man was killed by his nephew and his accomplices over an old enmity in the Shalimar police precincts on Saturday noon. The victim, identified as Iftikhar Ahmad, resident of Moghalpura, was on his way home at around 11 am. As he reached near College Road, his nephew namely Mian Asif and his two accomplices intercepted and shot him dead.
KARACHI: A jobless man committed suicide in his residence in the Orangi Town police limits on Saturday.
LAHORE: An ATC on Saturday awarded 97 years imprisonment to two accused of rape and imposed fine of Rs 270,000 on them while the court acquitted third accused by giving him the benefit of doubt. The accused had allegedly gang–raped two Japanese girls.
LAHORE: Five police witnesses testified before the court of Additional District and Sessions Judge Qamar Ijaz on Saturday that a seven-year-old girl, T, had been raped. The policemen are officials of the Narang Mandi Police Station, where the case was registered and the investigation was conducted. The policemen are: Sub-Inspector Safdar Ali; head constables Muhammad Tariq and Muhammad Akbar; and constables Muhammad Safdar and Muhammad Yousuf.
KARACHI: A police party of Jamshed Town busted an inter-provincial gang of car lifters from Karachi, and recovered arms and eight snatched and stolen vehicles from them. SSP Javed Akber Riaz of Jamshed Town said that, a patrolling party of Jamshed Town was on routine checking in Ferozeabad area, when they witnessed two suspicious vehicles, including a car bearing a government number plate GA-0110.
KARACHI: Six armed bandits committed a robbery into a private bank in the Taimuria police limits. They made off with Rs3.5 million within six to seven minutes. The bank staff and eyewitnesses said that it was early Saturday morning at 9:20am when six armed bandits wearing pant shirt and shalwar kameez loaded with TT pistols broke into the bank.
ISLAMABAD: The federal capital is witnessing an alarming increase in incidents of robbery, car theft and fake cheques, as the Islamabad Capital Territory (ICT) Police registered 26 robbery, 21 car theft and 32 fake cheques cases in the current month only. According to data gathered by Daily Times, the ICT police also registered three murder, four mobile phone snatching and two kidnapping cases this month.
