Karachi: SHO suspended, demoted over negligence
Karachi: Capital City Police Officer (CCPO) Wasim Ahmed suspended and demoted on Saturday Defense Station House Officer (SHO) for negligence and increased crime in the area.
“Defense SHO Farooq Satti was suspended and demoted according to departmental procedures,” said Wasim Ahmed, adding that increased crime in the area and Satti’s lack of interest in his duty were the reasons for this action.
It is pertinent to mention here that the Anti-Violent Crime Unit (AVCU) arrested Wasim, reportedly Satti’s brother-in-law, along with three accomplices named Sohail, Abbas and Misbah, on Friday during a raid at the New Karachi Industrial Area. A snatched vehicle and weapons were also recovered from their possession.
Sources said that Satti’s wife, her sister and another brother had also been imprisoned on robbery charges. When contacted in this regard, AVCU DSP Shakil Awan said that he cannot yet comment, since further investigation is in progress. Satti’s brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law have their own criminal gang involved in several robbery cases. CCPO Wasim Ahmed confirmed the involvement of Satti’s relatives in criminal activities and said that Satti will be dealt with accordingly, if he is found to have played a role in criminal activities with his relatives.
Sources informed Daily Times that recently an accident took place in the Defense Police Station limits in which a man was injured. The area police were informed but Satti did not register the FIR, although the man had the medico-legal report, court orders and the TPO’s orders. Meanwhile, the person responsible for the accident left scot-free after paying ‘bhatta’ money. The sources added that Satti still holds the responsibility of SHO and is on-duty.
