Olympian’s house looted: Robbers make off with Rs 1.5m from Kiran’s house
LAHORE: Unidentified men stole valuables including cash and jewellery worth Rs 1.5 million from the house of athlete Kiran Khan in the Race Course police precinct on Saturday.
The police said that the family had left for Islamabad four days ago to see Kiran off, as she was going to Beijing to participate in Olympics 2008. Former Olympian Khalid Zaman Khan, Kiran’s father, said that the family returned to Lahore on Saturday and found that someone had broken into the house and stolen Rs 500,000 in cash and jewellery and other valuables worth another Rs 1 million. “We informed the police, who came and collected evidence,” he said. Race Course Station House Officer Ashfaq Butt said that the police were investigating the case and would trace the criminals soon. Investigation officer of the case Sub-Inspector Habib Khan said that robbers had collected portable assets. He said that the robbers had left expensive cameras and saving certificates worth more than Rs 5 million. He said that it looked as if the robbers had detailed information about the family. He said that during initial investigation, he had felt that the robbers were new in business.
