Karachi: 4 held for street crimes
KARACHI: The police arrested four alleged robbers involved in several cases of street crimes after an encounter on Tuesday. The arrested men are Tayyab alias Waheed, Mirza alias Omer Khan, Rafiq Mullah and Naimatullah. They were arrested from Sector 12-D, Industrial Area, New Karachi, during a raid, said SP Dr Farooq Ahmed, adding that the arrested men opened fire on the police party led by DSP Asghar Ali Shah and SHO Baaz Mohammad Sayal.
The police party returned fire and arrested them after a brief encounter. They have been involved in several cases of street crime, especially in cell phone snatching in different areas of the city. Weapons and cell phones were recovered from their possession, the SP added. Five cases have been registered against them.
PPI reported meanwhile on Tuesday that a speeding dumper truck crushed to death a boy at KI Road in Sharafi police limits here on Tuesday, said police and witnesses. Thirteen-year-old Muhammad Usman, son of Guldad Khan, a resident of Mansehra Colony, was crossing the road, where the truck (JKT-779) ran over him. His body was handed over to his family after an autopsy at Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center. The police arrested truck driver Shiraz and lodged FIR No 114/08 under section 320 of PPC against him and impounded the truck.
